Just wanted to let you know I'm using glogster, but nothing that my kids would need to log in for.   I just put it together as my technology link in the unit, we are doing activities after we learn a little bit about the traditions. It's just a quick introduction to different winter holidays in a few countries that we are receiving postcards from!

Good morning Craig,

I am just jumping into this in the coming weeks so no student products for you to share. Just my lesson thoughts. The first activity will be based on the concept of Change.

I will explain to student's that while they are reading the numerous works poems, short stories and novel over the next months they will ALL be reflecting on the concept of change in the literary works.  They will also observe and explore change in their own lives over the next months.

I will have students work in groups and instead of using markers and poster boards I will have them develop a Glog of sentence stems or single words as they discuss the following questions and then record their ideas on the Glog.  This Glog will be baby steps and their first of many reflective products developed. They will be able to pull in graphics from the Glogster Site but not individual pictures or videos etc. this first time.

Questions with activity 1
What words come to mind when you think about change?
What kinds of things change?  What is it about them that changes?
How do you know when something has changed?

Categorical thought and things that do not change will be the next lesson and the 3rd lesson will deal with Generalizations of Change. Something that is always or almost always true. "What can you say about change that is almost or almost always true?" They will use their ideas, examples and categories from previous lessons to guide their thinking and write several statements which are generalizations about CHANGE. This is where they will each make THEIR OWN GLOSTER on THEIR generalizations of change.
